If you could choose one place only to live, where would that be and why?
Yemen! It’s my hometown and my sanctuary. I am sure my country needs me to accomplish and reach high goals. I find my inspiration and motivation there, surrounded by its mountains, living under its sky, and saved by its wind. I would spend my whole life there and would stay happy.
How would you describe your creativity?
When I was a kid , I didn’t use to join the kids in the playing yard, or jumping and shouting during the school break. I used to go to either to the art room to draw or the music room to practice acting, play music, or even talk with my teachers and get some pieces of advice. That and in addition to the help of my parents I found a different track to walk on and follow.
Sometimes I wish anybody could get inside my mind and see what’s inside and how I look at things, because I feel sometimes I don’t see things like normal shapes or colors.
How and when did you start to work with this in a serious manner?
It started in 2009 and it was like a hobby and me and my team spent our time making films and trying to achieve our fun goals. But with time we got the chance to work with organisations and companies which led to establishing dotnotion in 2013, which is a media production company that is run by me and my team.
What do you do at the moment?
We just finished our second short drama film and now it is screening in cinemas in Yemen, also participating in international film festivals around the world. Moreover, we are now the main media production services working with UNICEF in Yemen. Right now, we are making a new short drama film and it is quite a challenging task.
A recommendation for those who think about starting and running a creative business?
Faith and belief in what you are doing is the key of starting any business, then patience is the remaining key that should accompany you all the time.
Tell us how it all started.
When we got the first-place award in the British council film competition, I was sent to get the training course in film-making, and that inspired me to establish a HR company for Media production. The following successful experiences took us more seriously towards a more inclusive company which is dotnotion that was established at the end of 2013. And my mission since then is to produce expressive and important works that contribute to the well-being of our society and the human being.
What is the most important thing in a workplace/studio for you?
A creative team and big amount of references. In addition to a great deal of knowledge in what we are working on.
What is your favorite film?
There are many inspiring films, short and feature ones. As an example I can say Gravity which is a very challenging movie that left its audience startled.
Who would you like to invite for a dinner and why?
James Francis Cameron, the director of Titanic and Avatar. I would like to know how differently he sees things, I think he invents movies and not just makes them. I would love to know how he thinks and how he uses his techniques to create such spectacular movies.
How do you like to spoil yourself?
I think it is hard to spoil myself but maybe if I lock up myself in a room without any communication facilities such as the internet. I think I would separate myself from the world and enjoy my spare time.
What is luxury for you?
When I get the latest Filming equipment with every release. I am fascinated by the new technology in filming and would like to own as many as possible.
What is the nicest compliment you’ve received for your creative work, and from whom?

There is not a specific one, but passionate people who are making their work with a vision influence me and encourage me to see their viewpoint more clearly.
