ABU DHABI, Aug 9, 2021 (WAM) – The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center (ALC) of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) held the first editorial meeting to select the topic of the issue inaugural of its new peer-reviewed journal.
Al Markaz: The Journal of Arab Studies will be published twice a year from January 2022, in collaboration with Brill Publishers, to advance academic research on literature, culture and other relevant topics.
The recently selected editorial board is made up of world-renowned academics from prestigious universities around the world. It is headed by Dr Ali bin Tamim, President of the Arabic Language Center.
“For years, academic research on the affairs of our Arabic language has been abundantly available in many other languages,” said Dr Bin Tamim. “This review will be published in Arabic to strengthen the position of the language as a writing tool for scientific research, as well as to highlight the language as a subject of interest for research and study.
“We are delighted to see many leading scholars in the field of Arab studies participating in this journal, which will create real change in this field. It will adopt the highest standards of research evaluation and provide a platform for publishing research by Arabists writing in Arabic for the first time alongside prominent Arab scholars. We are confident that Al Markaz will be a valuable addition to journals that focus on the Arabic language and its literature, as well as its cognitive and aesthetic issues. ”
The publication’s editor-in-chief Dr Bilal Orfali, Sheikh Zayed Chair in Arab and Islamic Studies at the American University of Beirut, highlighted the focus by the editorial board on several key topics to enrich the study of Arabic literature both qualitatively and methodologically.
