States to receive nearly 51 doses of lakh Covid-19 vaccine in the next three days: Center: The Tribune India

New Delhi, May 16

More than 1.84 crore of Covid-19 vaccine doses are still available with States and UTs, while nearly 51 lakh doses are in the works and will be received by them within the next three days, the ministry said on Sunday. Union Health.

The Center has so far provided more than 20 crore of vaccine doses (20,28,09,250) free of charge to states and UTs, he said.

Of that total, the total consumption, calculated based on the average through May 14, including wastage, is 18.43.67.772 doses, according to data available at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

“Over 1.84 million doses of Covid vaccine (1 84 41 478) are still available from states and UTs to administer.” States with negative balances show more consumption (including wastage) than the vaccine provided because they did not reconcile the vaccine they provided to the armed forces, ”the ministry said.

He said 50 95,640 doses of the vaccine are in the works and will be received by states and UTs within the next three days.

Vaccination is an integral part of the Indian government’s overall pandemic containment and management strategy (including Testing, Tracking, Treating and Covid Appropriate Behavior).

The Center has supported the national vaccination campaign by providing free Covid vaccines to states and UTs, in addition to several efforts to increase its production and supply, the ministry said.

Implementation of the liberalized and accelerated phase 3 COVID-19 vaccination strategy began from May 1, whereby the government opened vaccination for all over 18s.

As part of the strategy, each month, 50% of the total vaccine doses authorized by the Central Medicines Laboratory (CDL) from any manufacturer would be purchased by the Center. It would continue to make these doses available to state governments free of charge, as was done in the past. – PTI
