ABU DHABI, 13th February, 2022 (WAM) — The Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) today announced the launch of its admission campaign and calls on all aspiring diplomats to apply before the deadline of March 13, 2022.
Renowned for its diplomatic capacity development, research and thought leadership initiatives, the Academy has launched the admissions process for the 2022/2023 Postgraduate Diploma Program for Emiratis who wish to embark on diplomatic careers that will enable them to represent the United Arab Emirates on the world stage. .
The AGDA, which launched its campaign to recruit potential diplomats under the theme “Diplomats of the future”, expects to receive a record number of applications this year, following last year’s record recruitment campaign, while More and more young Emiratis are now choosing to pursue careers in diplomacy and foreign affairs.
Abdulnasser Alshaali, Deputy Minister for Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC), said: “Over the years, we have seen an increasing number of Emiratis expressing interest in pursuing diplomatic careers. . This is a clear indication. of the UAE’s central role globally and its effectiveness in achieving its foreign policy objectives”.
He added, “It is important for us at the ministry to expand the Emirati diplomatic corps by providing those with a keen interest in foreign affairs with unparalleled knowledge and skills that will enable them to further consolidate and improve the international position of our country”.
“I therefore urge aspiring diplomats to join the AGDA, as it not only prepares them to serve and represent their nation, but also offers them the opportunity to explore some of our world’s most pressing challenges in an environment stimulating learning,” he concluded.
Nickolay Mladenov, the AGDA’s new Acting Director General, said: “The UAE today is a country that has taken the lead on a range of global issues – tackling climate change and environmental disasters , providing relief and humanitarian aid to those in need. . It hosts Expo 2020 and will host COP28, both during its two-year membership in the UN Security Council.”
“Such achievements require elite diplomats with immaculate knowledge and first-rate skills who can represent their nation with honor, strength and integrity – especially during times of testing and times of unprecedented global turbulence.”
He added: “That is why our Academy provides vital policy guidance, with insight into contemporary regional and global issues impacting the UAE and the region. The AGDA strongly supports foreign policy goals of the United Arab Emirates, equipping future diplomats with fundamental knowledge and skills, to effectively serve their nation on the international stage.”
Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Dhaheri, the new Deputy Director General of AGDA, said: “With over 245 graduates of the AGDA Postgraduate Diploma Program since its inception in 2014, the Academy is proud to supporting the UAE’s vision in preparing skillful diplomats, who can further strengthen the nation’s standing on the international stage – especially as we prepare for the next 50 years. The Academy has become the driving force behind global strategic initiatives that elevate the UAE’s diplomatic presence and strengthen its international position.
Dr. Al Dhaheri, who is an AGDA alumnus, stressed that the UAE’s foreign policy is based on the pursuit of peace and security and the building of bridges of tolerance, coexistence and cooperation. – despite the country’s position in a rather turbulent and difficult region.

The Academy offers courses in diplomacy and international relations that prepare future professionals for a career in foreign policy and diplomacy. AGDA offers a range of academic and skill-building courses, as well as third language training in Chinese, French, German, Hebrew, Russian and Spanish.
The admission drive is open to all Emiratis aged 35 or younger, with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or who will graduate by June 2022 with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicants must also have a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 or pass the IELTS exam before starting their studies. Male applicants must provide a letter stating that they have completed national service.
