SHARJAH, 18th September, 2022 (WAM) — Two key discussions highlighting the critical role of strategic government communications in turning crisis into opportunity and encouraging young people to invest in technology-driven ventures to successfully seize the myriad of opportunities presented by the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) will be held during the 11th annual International Government Communication Forum (IGCF 2022), which will be unveiled in less than two weeks, at the Expo Center Sharjah.
Taking place on September 28 and 29, these two main sessions at IGCF 2022 entitled “Economic Crises – Between Positive Containment and Negative Adjustment” and “Implications of Public Communication for Emerging Projects” will be moderated by a panel of speakers from elite comprising CEOs, communications specialists and government officials.
Transparency to gain the trust and participation of the population In “Economic crises – between positive containment and negative adjustment”, panelists Younis Haji Al Khoori, Undersecretary, Ministry of Finance, UAE; Malcolm Stevenson Forbes Jr, CEO, Forbes Media LLC; Dr. Ehab Abu Aish, Deputy Minister of Finance for Treasury Affairs and Public Services, Egypt, and Dr. Shashi Tharoor, former UN diplomat, Member of Indian Parliament, author and public intellectual, will discuss how whose transparent and timely communication from governments generates awareness among people and motivates them to collectively participate in the execution of the solutions developed by their governments in times of crisis.
Distinguished speakers will also highlight the most appropriate government approaches to gaining public trust in a rapidly changing social and economic landscape, and the importance of understanding societal perspectives and needs during crisis management. They will also highlight how government communication can prepare people for a predictable crisis and reduce their anxiety using expert crisis management strategies.
Projects and transformations In the second session, “Implications of public communication for emerging projects”, Muhammad Yunus, social entrepreneur; and Hazza Ibrahim Almansoori, media consultant and entrepreneurship expert, will highlight how communication can successfully attract investors to support financial start-ups and new technologies.
The session will also discuss the foundations for creating business initiatives capable of beneficially utilizing 4IR and automation concepts and applications to break out of the existing deadlock and stagnation. In addition, the session will discuss the impact of the adoption of 5G technologies in communications, satellite connectivity, internet and digital currencies on emerging projects, in addition to highlighting their role in investments in creative industries and technology sectors.
The IGCF is organized by the International Government Communication Center (IGCC) – an initiative of the Sharjah Government Media Office (SGMB) and this year is themed “Challenges and Solutions”.
The busy programming schedule for the two-day forum includes seven main discussion sessions, ten inspirational keynotes, six workshops, 13 interactive platforms and 40 parallel activities.
