Indian Railways continue to deliver Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) to various states! Working around the clock amid this covid crisis, the national carrier is bringing relief by delivering survival gas to various states across the country. So far, Indian Railways Oxygen Express trains have delivered more than 9,440 tonnes of LMO to nearly 590 tankers in various states, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Railways on May 16, 2020. To date , about 150 Oxygen Express trains completed their journey and brought relief to various states. Until the time of this declaration, no less than 12 loaded Oxygen Express trains were in circulation with more than 970 MT of LMOs in 55 tankers.
The southern states of Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have recently benefited from a sharp increase in oxygen supplies thanks to several Oxygen Express trains delivering their loads. Incidentally, the National Capital Region (NCR) went through the delivery of over 5,000 tonnes of oxygen for further distribution. Over the past few days, Oxygen Express trains are delivering around 800 tonnes of LMO to the nation every day. The state of Kerala received its first Oxygen Express train with 118 tonnes of load at Ernakulam.
According to the ministry, 521 MT of oxygen was unloaded in Maharashtra, 430 MT in Madhya Pradesh, approximately 2525 MT in Uttar Pradesh, 1228 MT in Haryana, 40 MT in Rajasthan, 389 MT in Telangana, 361 MT in Karnataka, 118 MT in Kerala, 200 MT in Uttarakhand, 116 MT in Andhra Pradesh, 151 MT in Tamil Nadu and over 3320 MT in Delhi. The ministry further said the heavier Oxygen Express trains are likely to start their journey later that night. Different routes with oxygen supply locations have been mapped by Indian Railways and it stands ready for any emerging states need. The tankers are supplied by the states to Indian railways to bring in LMOs.
