HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – Hastings Public Schools recently launched an app, aiming to achieve its goal of improving communication between the district and its community.
The app provides access to the latest HPS news, weekly lunch menus at each school, a district calendar, contact information for all district buildings and much more, all at your fingertips.
District Superintendent Jeff Schneider said the platform is the fastest way to get a message out to parents, students and district staff.
“It’s going to be the fastest way to get information on any announcements or anything like that, so hopefully it helps us communicate better with our community,” Schneider said.
Principals have special access within the app to send announcements for items such as reminders or an athletic game being postponed.
Schneider told Local4 News the idea for the app came about after reviewing the results of the previous school year’s survey of parents in the district asking for a more convenient way to receive information.
“One of the things we found in our investigation, as we were releasing all the information, we were all over the place, weren’t we? There were phone calls, there were letters… we have posted social media posts but the problem is that all of that – especially like social media posts – they are only good if people see them so by getting the app you are warned when there is something to pay attention to,” he noted.
The app is available for download through Google Play and the App Store. It is free and can be found by searching: “Hastings Public Schools”.
